It’s the most wonderful time of the Diva Year! Last year, Desperately Seeking Trashy Diva, our fan group, hosted the inaugural DivaCon Convention with divas uniting from all over the global to shop, socialize, and tour the city of New Orleans. We’re taking the second annual DivaCon Convention to the next level by combining the event with Trashy Diva’s 20th Anniversary Party.
Trashy Diva proudly presents the second annual DivaCon with four fun-filled days of shopping and social events you won’t want to miss! The free convention runs from Thursday, March 9th through Friday, March 12th.
We’re kicking off the celebration with a private shopping event at our French Quarter Dress Boutique at 537 Royal Street on Thursday, March 9th from 5-7pm. We’re thrilled to announce that Candice Gwinn, owner and designer, will meet and greet the Divas attending this event. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the company from the Head Diva herself. Candice looks forward to welcoming you.
The evening will also feature a Lady Asenath (a tarot card reader), cocktails, and more surprises.
There will be two sessions available for shopping and fitting rooms to ensure we are able to provide the highest quality of customer service (5-6pm OR 6pm-7pm). RSVP here.
On Sunday, March 12th, all Uptown Boutiques will be open from 10am-1pm for private shopping. That’s right, all three Magazine Street Boutiques will be closed to the public and open to all of our favorite divas! This epic shopping event will feature a Benjamin Aleshire – poet for hire, (image credit: Ivana Cajina@von.co) giveaways galore, snacks, cocktails, and more fun! RSVP here.
Join us for a private screening of the classic 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire at the historic Prytania Theatre at 5339 Prytania Street on Friday, March 10th at 10am. Guests will enjoy complimentary coffee and pastries at this free event. RSVP here and pick up your tickets at any Trashy Diva boutique the week of the screening.
***Remember to pick up your tickets in advance (they won’t be for sale at the door)***
On Saturday, March 11th, we’ll celebrate Trashy Diva’s 20th Anniversary party at One Eyed Jacks at 615 Toulouse Street. Divas will enjoy entertainment from burlesque sensation Trixie Minx and Fleur de Tease, chuckles with a comedian, and dance the night away with an 80/90s DJ. Doors open at 9pm. Remember to get your photo snapped in our complimentary photo booth! RSVP to attend for free here. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $10 a piece.
On Sunday, March 12th, a farewell happy hour will be held at the Hot Tin bar at 2031 St. Charles Avenue from 2-4pm. We’ll reminisce about the memories we’ve made at DivaCon 2017 and start planning our next convention! RSVP here.
The first 100 divas to visit our boutiques during DivaCon will receive a gift bag filled with goodies, samples, and vouchers from local favorites including Trashy Diva, Salon by Sucre, Juan’s Flying Burrito, Earthsavers, Aunt Sally’s Pralines, Revelator Coffee Company, Dat Dog, and many more! Gift bags will be available at all Trashy Diva locations while supplies last.
Twenty years ago, owner and designer Candice Gwinn moved to New Orleans from Georgia with $5,000 and a bag of vintage clothing to open her first boutique on Decatur Street in the historic French Quarter. Gwinn’s love of vintage patterns and understanding of the need for classic silhouettes and styles to suit the modern woman inspired the launch of her first clothing collection in 1999. Today, Trashy Diva has released over 100 collections and has cultivated a reputation as the premiere vintage-reproduction clothing brand, providing women of all shapes and sizes with impeccably tailored, meticulously designed pieces to transcend fashion fads.
From luxury lingerie to shoes and accessories, the five Trashy Diva boutiques in New Orleans and two boutiques in Atlanta provide a vast selection of highly-curated pieces for the distinguishing shopper. Trashy Diva’s commitment to outstanding customer service and a shopping experience that truly values the client’s personal style is the leading force behind the brand’s Fan Group and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. Through fans of Trashy Diva seeking to gather for socializing, shopping, and making new friends, the DivaCon Convention was born.
