Hey, pretty lady! What’s your name and what’s your job at Trashy Diva?
Hello! I’m Venessa! I’m a Photo Editor/Writer in the Trashy Diva offices.

How long have you worked at Trashy Diva?
I’ve been here just a little over 3 months!

What do you love most about living in New Orleans?
I just moved here from Colorado about 6 months ago so everything is still very new and shiny for me! Of course I love the food, music, and general up-for-anything mentality, but I think I love the history of this city the most. Everywhere you turn there is beautiful architecture and people ready to tell you a story.

I think I’ve been fitting in alright.

Which do you prefer… Halloween or Mardi Gras?
I’ve always loved Halloween more than any other holiday, but Mardi Gras definitely gave all my Halloweens a run for their money. I’m already planning for 2016!! I have been told that Halloween here is pretty amazing though, so I’ll have to hold off on my decision for a couple more months.

Confession time! Just HOW MANY Trashy Diva pieces do you own?
I haven’t had too much time to collect much, but currently I own about 5 pieces and have my eye on a couple more. I’ve managed to collect a few amazing shoes and accessories as well.

What’s your favorite dress and/or accessory in the stores right now
The Trixie Dress is by far my favorite dress. It’s been hard to hold back getting one in every print I can!

If you could only save 3 Trashy Diva pieces from a fire, which ones would you pick
I’d pick the Lupe Dress in Deep Sea Coral, the Trixie Dress in Cactus Rouge, and the Patsy Dress in green stretch.

What are your style inspirations?
I typically look to a lot of recent reboots of shows. Especially the vintage-style pieces like Gotham. Shows like that tend to have a great mash-up of really classic style with a modern twist to it.

Just because you’re a villain doesn’t mean you can’t look good…

What’s your favorite book and film? (And which film has the best fashion in it ever?)
The one book I’ve read over and over again is The Mists of Avalon, but if I could pick my absolute favorite, it’s the wholeHis Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. My favorite film of all time is Singing in the Rain.

What classic film stars are your favorite?
I’ve always been a huge fan of musicals so my heart always leaned toward Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds (I think Singing in the Rain has more than a little to do with this) and Judy Garland.

How could you not love these faces!!

When you’re not at Trashy Diva, how do you like to spend your time?
I’m a pretty big nerd, so I tend to watch a lot of movies and tv shows and also read a lot. I have an Etsy store where I sell nerdy wine stoppers and other beverage accessories. I’ve also been working my way through all the restaurants in the city. It’s a hard job, but someone needs to do it!

I have developed a serious addiction to crawfish…

Thank you, Venessa! We hope you enjoyed getting to know this former Colorado turned NOLA girl, and I’ll catch you in our next edition of “Meet the Divas!”
